TIME TO START YOUR CLASSICAL SNOPEK COLLECTION!
Many
of you are already proud owners of one or more of Snopek's many rock recordings. With the release of "Miasma
Fragments — New Music for Pipe Organ", you can now own the very first commercial release by classical composer
Sigmund Snopek. "Miasma Fragments" is a collection of 15 original post-modern pieces written during the
1990's. Using the highly evocative range of the pipe organ, this CD offers a wide range of musical experiences:
sometimes whimsical, sometimes disturbing, but always powerful. Several of the elements you may already identify
with Snopek music — strong melodies, unexpected rhythms and rock music overtones — are also present in "Miasma
Fragments".
"Miasma Fragments" is performed by long-time
Snopek friend and collaborator David Bohn. The CD is now available from Spiritone Records, a Wisconsin-based label
specializing in original instrumental music. You can order this CD on this web page, or pick up a copy at the Exclusive
Company or Barnes & Noble record stores in the Milwaukee area.
ATTENTION PROG ROCK FANS
When is the last time you heard music from classic
Snopek recordings like "Trinity Seas Seize Sees", "Virginia Woolf" and "Roy Rogers Meets
Albert Einstein" performed live? Lucky progressive rock fans will get their opportunity at this year's ProgDay
festival in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Snopek has assembled a group of Milwaukee's best musicians (and maybe
a surprise or two?) to open this year's ProgDay festival at 1 pm on Saturday, September 1st.
Snopek's performance will include favorite songs
from his many popular prog recordings from the last 30 years as well as new music that will be included on several
new recording projects. Check out www.progday.com for details.
MORE MUSIC FROM MUSEA
Following on the success of "Trinity Seas
Seize Sees" in 2000, Musea Records (Metz, France) will be releasing two more Snopek prog rock classics. "First
Band on the Moon" was last album released by the four-piece Snopek band in the late 1970's. The award-winning
"Roy Rogers Meets Albert Einstein" took the 70's Snopek sound to new levels, merging classical, jazz
and rock music on a grand scale. For years, fans have been asking for CD versions of these formative works. Look
for these two special recordings to be available from Musea in late 2001 or early 2002.
